Photoresponsive liquid-crystalline block copolymers are a kind of block copolymer containing photoresponsive liquid crystalline moities. As a novel kind of functional material
they combine the characteristics of photoresponsive liquid crystals and block copolymers. The research in this field mainly focus on azobenzene-containing liquid-crystalline block copolymers. In this paper
the photoresponsiveness of liquid crystalline materials and the microphase separation of block copolymers are briefly introduced. Then the mechanism of photoresponsive feature
the process of microphase separation and their regulation are explained in detail. Finally
potential applications in photonics
nanotemplates
nanoparticle arrangement and micelles are also discussed.
