Fast response modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens
In order to improve the response speed of the traditional modal electrode liquid crystal lens
a modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens is designed. Combining the theory of liquid crystal continuum and the model of resistance-capacitance equivalent circuit of modal electrode liquid crystal lens
a fast calculation method is proposed to simulate the liquid crystal lens. The simulation results are in good agreement with the test parameters of actual device. It shows that the simulation method has high precision. The driving conditions of the modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens is designed according to the simulation results. The modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens is fabricated and its optical properties are studied. The results show that the liquid crystal lens has a large focal length adjustment range and good imaging effect. The response time of modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens is 136 ms
which is 368 ms shorter than the parallel oriented liquid crystal lens with similar parameters. The response speed of modal electrode pi-cell liquid crystal lens is significantly improved.
