Impact of ambient light on flicker in solid-state 3D volumetric display
To optimize the flicker visibility in solid-state 3D volumetric display
the impact of ambient light on flicker in solid-state 3D volumetric display is studied. The frequency domain energy distribution of superposition of ambient light and imaging light in the frequency domain is obtained through Fourier transformation
and the possible causes of ambient light affecting display flicker are analyzed. Meanwhile
two visual perception experiments were designed and implemented
and the experimental data are statistically analyzed. The research result shows that the frequency
maximum intensity and duty cycle of the ambient light have significant influence on the flicker of the 3D volumetric display
and the significant difference is less than 0.001. Among all the factors involved
the frequency of ambient light is the primary factor affecting the flicker
and the matching of the ambient light frequency with the display refresh rate is the main way to eliminate the flicker; reducing the maximum light intensity or increasing the duty cycle can help to eliminate flicker. The correlation coefficient between the estimation result of the flicker degree evaluation model and the experiment result is greater than 0.99.The research results have positive implications and guidance for the optimization of 3D display flicker intensity based on cascading screen.
