Navigating the System

When you first log into the system, you will be taken to your "Home" page. Firstly, we would ask if you could update your profile with your current contact details and any other relevant information. This will greatly assist us when thanking Reviewer for their work at the end of the year.

To do this you will need to select Modify Profile/Password. At the top of your profile you will see your username. Log out of the system and the select Unknown/Forgotten password? Input your user name and the system will email you a new password. When you receive the password, you will be able to access your home page and update your profile.

Your home page will have different categories of tasks. If you are required to perform a pending action item, there will be a red arrow   next to a manuscript link. After clicking on this link, you will be presented with a "Manuscript" screen containing:

    • Detailed Information about a specific manuscript.
    • Links to the manuscript and associated figures/images.
    • A list of "Manuscript Tasks" or links allowing you to:

      • Accept/Decline Reviewer Position.

      • Check Status

      • Review Manuscript

(Not all links will be present all the time. Only the applicable links will be visible.)

If there are no red arrows   visible on the "Home" page, then you are finished.

Review Manuscript

After logging into the system, pressing on a manuscript link preceded by a red arrow, you will be presented with a "Manuscript" screen as described above. At the bottom of this screen under "Manuscript Tasks" will be displayed a "Review Manuscript" link. Clicking on this link will display the "Review Manuscript" Screen. This screen is broken into 5 parts as follows:

1.    Manuscript background information.

2.    A review pop-down selection.

3.    A dataset recommendation drop-down.

4.    Remarks to the author.

5.    Remarks to the editor.

If you prefer to work offline, you may find it quickest to download and print the PDF file, draft your review remarks using your favorite word processor and cut/paste it back into the reviewer remarks text area on this screen.

 Confidentiality

Editors, authors and reviewers are required to keep confidential all details of the editorial and peer review process on submitted manuscripts. Unless otherwise declared as a part of open peer review, the peer review process is confidential and conducted anonymously; identities of reviewers are not released. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts. If a reviewer wishes to seek advice from colleagues while assessing a manuscript, the reviewer must consult with the editor and should ensure that confidentiality is maintained and that the names of any such colleagues are provided to the journal with the final report. Regardless of whether a submitted manuscript is eventually published, correspondence with the journal, referees' reports and other confidential material must not be published, disclosed or otherwise publicised without prior written consent. Reviewers should be aware that it is our policy to keep their names confidential and that we do our utmost to ensure this confidentiality. We cannot, however, guarantee to maintain this confidentiality in the face of a successful legal action to disclose identity.
Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays reserves the right to contact funders, regulatory bodies, journals and the authors’ institutions in cases of suspected research or publishing misconduct.
Financial competing interests
Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays invites peer-reviewers to exclude themselves in cases where there is a significant conflict of interest, financial or otherwise. However, just as financial interests need not invalidate the conclusions of an article, nor do they automatically disqualify an individual from evaluating it. We ask peer-reviewers to inform the editors of any related interests, including financial interests as defined above, that might be perceived as relevant. Editors will consider these statements when weighing reviewers' recommendations.
